LAUNCH INFORMATION

U3A Photography Zine Project

Several members have mentioned how much they enjoyed our exhibitions in the past. Unfortunately, at this time, there are too many barriers to holding an exhibition. As an alternative we propose to publish a Zine. This is short for magazine - it is a small circulation,  self-published work.

“The Photographer’s Eye” will be an A4 colour zine printed professionally.

• It will contain images and optional original text from members of Lostwithiel U3A Photography Group.
• The subject matter is not prescribed – members can enter material of any subject/ theme.
• All members will have the same amount of space
• Estimated publication date is mid December
• Until the number of entrants is known exact costs are hard to determine but the cost of entry is likely to be £10 per person which is the total cost divided by number of participants. Costs will include printing and postage and packing.

By entering into The Photographer's Eye Zine Project you will:

• Have a double paged A4 spread
• Have the option of images or images and text
• Receive one copy of the finished publication
• Be offered the opportunity to order extra copies at cost once layout is complete and before publication

You will need to:

• Give your work a title
• Provide images and any optional text in the format specified below by the published deadline
• Indicate how you would like your work laid out on the page – a hand drawn diagram will suffice! If you need any help just ask.
• Pay an entry fee
• Ensure no copyright is infringed
• Submit only your own images
• Accept the editors’ final decision!

Format of entry

• Images should be .jpg or .tiff files
• Text in Word format (ie .doc)
• Images and any text documents MUST start with your name followed by the title eg. stepthomas_birdonatwig.jpg or lindsaysouthgate_poem.doc
• Entries should be emailed to u3azine@gmail.com . Any large files can be sent to the same address via WeTransfer

Timeline

17^th August – Zine project announced

31^st August - members to confirm entry by sending email to u3azine@gmail.com

30^th September – final date for images and text to be received by editors. Also final date for payment of entry fee via BACS transfer to U3A account

19^th October – draft digital zine shown at Platform Meeting

16^th November – final digital draft shown at Platform meeting and any extra orders placed

20^th November – payment via BACS transfer to U3A account for any extra copies ordered

Mid December – publication and distribution by post to entrants
